All participants provided written informed consent before enrollment, and legal representatives were consulted when necessary. The study was conducted at a specialized neurology research center, with recruitment taking place over a 6-month period. The trial was also registered in the Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials (IRCT) under the identifier IRCT20170315033086N4. IRCT is a primary registry in the World Health Organization (WHO) International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP). .
