: According to article 104 of the General Regulations of the Organic Law for the Development of Aquaculture and Fisheries published in the Official Registry on February 25, 2022, in Ecuador, the natural or legal person who wishes to obtain authorization to carry out mariculture activities must obtain a concession issued by the governing body. The concession grants individuals the exclusive use and enjoyment of the marine area identified in the corresponding ministerial agreement. In this study the K. alvarezii seedlings were imported from the Punta Laurel sector, Bocas del Toro Archipelago, Panama, with a phytosanitary certificate of origin and invoice. The experimental farm in Panama is certified by the Undersecretary of Aquaculture as an exporting establishment of Kappaphycus seaweed, certified as free of any pathological agent by Panama’s National Government through the National Directorate of Animal Health, Ministry of Agricultural Development – MIDA.
