Compliance with Ethical Standards
:
: The authors declare no competing interests.
: The present study involved human participants, and all phases were conducted following ethical approval from the Ethics Review Board of the institution of the first author. In line with the guidelines followed by the Institutional Review Board, we certify that the study was conducted in accordance with the ethical standards established by the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments for ethical standards.
: In the initial phase of participant recruitment (when participants were between the ages of 6 and 9 years), informed written consent was provided by parents, where a researcher explained the extent and nature of participation, and where they were informed that they could withdraw from the study at any time. Participants provided verbal assent and were also told that their participation was not mandatory, and that they could withdraw at any time. For the qualitative interviews that were the focus of the current study, participants (now ages 17–21) provided written informed consent, and the interviewer explained how they could withdraw from the study at any time.
