: This study reveals the role of forest habitats in the conservation of tropical biodiversity, highlighting the importance of secondary forests as they appear to allow the expression of evolutionary mechanisms of plant constitutive defenses. In this sense, forest habitats support more ecological interactions and ecosystem services, which favours the conservation of insects and biodiversity as a whole.
