: Prof. K. Chattopadhyay is known to DP for more than two decades first in the capacity of the principal investigator of the project in which he was involved, then as a post-doctoral advisor and subsequently turning into friend, philosopher and guide for life. The author was totally inspired by his very first interaction with him for setting up the vacuum melt spinning set-up. The passion with which he was involved and the mastery he demonstrated which came from decades of hands-on experience in the field of metastable processing was a first-hand lesson to a young researcher for commitment to science. DP has immensely benefited from his wealth of experience and knowledge both in the field of materials science and life. Prof KC’s broad outlook toward research and development in India was evident from the way he opened up his laboratory at IISc, Bangalore, with the state-of-the-art facilities to students from various lesser-privileged institutes for which DP is a personal testimony. In simple words, Prof. KC is a teacher who never lets his students down.
