: A participant information sheet (PIS) and consent statement were read to the participating caregivers in their preferred language (English, Swahili or Luo). Those wishing to participate consented by signing the consent form stating that they understood the information and were willing to participate in the study. They were given copies for their safekeeping and were allowed to withdraw from the study at any time.
: Participants were informed that data from the study would be analysed and the results would be presented to the community. The findings would also be published in scientific journals.
