: All research procedures were approved by the South Campus institutional review board of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) (#22–000009). The uTECH Study was also granted an NIH Certificate of Confidentiality (CC-OD-22–3555), in which personally identifying information is protected from disclosure in any federal, State, or local civil, criminal, administrative, legislative, or other proceeding, as well as from anyone not involved in the research.
: To enroll in the study, participants first had to consent to participate. Upon screening eligible participants, research staff would set up a Zoom appointment to review the consent form with potential participants, which detailed all types of data that would be collected, study goals and procedures, and confidentiality and privacy protocols, as well as their rights as research participants. All participation was voluntary, and participants could choose to discontinue at any time. Discontinued participants who requested the removal of their data from the research were not included in any analyses or findings.
