: Ethics approval for this study was obtained from the Hunter New England Human Research Ethics Committee (13/03/20/4.05) and this approval was also registered with the University of Newcastle Human Research Ethics Committee. All procedures involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki Declaration and its later amendments.
: Written informed consent was obtained from all participants; including consent to complete the various self-report questionnaires, permission for restricted access to medical records, and permission to be re-contacted at 3- and 6-months post-discharge.
: As part of the consent process, participants were provided with a detailed participation information and consent sheet outlining how the data would be utilised. This included ensuring that confidentiality would be protected in any resulting publications or presentations, with no personally identifying information disclosed. De-identified data collected for this study were also utilised in a Doctorate in Clinical and Health Psychology awarded by the University of Newcastle to the first author.
