: Ethical approval was not necessary according to the guidelines stated by the ethical review committee at Lund University, as the questions did not ask for any sensitive personal information. Respondents volunteered to sign up to the citizen science campaign ‘ Operation: Save the bees’ and answer the questionnaire and, by doing so, gave informed consent to use data for research. Data was anonymized by deleting the respondents’ IP addresses, which was the only identifier that the dataset contained when delivered to the authors by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
