: No approval of research ethics committees was required to accomplish the goals of this study because experimental work was conducted using porcine ileum samples that were acquired from a previous challenge trial approved by the Swine Services Unlimited (Roerink et al. ). As only paraffin blocks were used, institutional ethics committee approval was unnecessary for this current work.
