: For the vaccine development and in vitro testing, this study was carried out according to the recommendations in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals of the National Institutes of Health. The Institutional Biosafety Committee of Virginia Tech approved the research for the ND DNA vaccine. For the vaccine experimentation on animals, ethical clearance was obtained from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania and Permission to undertake animal health research in Tanzania from the United Republic of Tanzania Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries (Ref.
