: The serum samples included in this investigation were provided by the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) at the Universidade de Passo Fundo. Field veterinarians collected blood samples and submitted them to the VDL for the diagnosis of equine infectious anemia virus and glanders, in accordance with the National Program of Equine Health (document SDA/MAA 45/2004, published in the Official Journal of the Union (DOU) on 07/07/2004, and document nº 6 from 16/01/2018, published in the Official Journal (DOU) of the Union on 17/01/2018), which mandates that all equids transported and participating in any collective activity must be free of antibodies to both diseases. Upon the completion of the mandatory storage duration of 90 days, the samples may be discharged. This investigation exclusively utilized sera samples designated for discharging. Consequently, since none of the samples were specifically collected for this study, no animals were utilized, and the information provided with the samples included only the geographical origin and the animals’ age and sex, the study did not require approval from the University Commission of Animal Ethics.
