: Human samples: The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Northern Savo Hospital District (82/2014; 745/2018). The investigation was conducted according to the Declaration of Helsinki. An informed consent to provide saliva for research purposes was given by every donor and a written consent was obtained from every participant. Dog samples: The study was approved by the Finnish national Animal Experiment Board (ESAVI/7482/04.10.07/2015), and the canine saliva samples were collected in accordance with institutional guidelines and in compliance with national and regional legislation. An informed consent to provide canine saliva for research purposes was given by every dog owner and a written consent was obtained from dogs’ owners.
