: Environmental pollution by toxic compounds including heavy metals is a severe problem in many parts of the world, mainly due to excessive anthropogenic activities. Cd is a cumulative toxin that disrupts plant growth and reproduction and poses a serious health risk for animals and people. The application of natural substances, such as auxins, can be a beneficial and environmental-friendly option how to alleviate the toxic Cd effects on plants, improve their agricultural production and limit Cd entry to the food chain by the restriction of Cd movement to the consumed plant biomass.
