: Approval of the ethical committee for the estimation arsenic contamination level in individual trophic niche of the aquatic ecosystem including abiotic and biotic compartments was not necessary because the animals (fish and snails) collected from the cultured waterbodies for the research work belong to the food fish category and were not protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 (Last amended in 2017), Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. This is an observational study. No specific permission was required to collect phytoplankton, zooplankton, periphyton and aquatic macrophyte samples from the studied inland waterbodies.
