: We confirm that all data collection and analyses were performed in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations, including CEN standard protocols. We confirm that all experimental protocols were approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and complied with local and national regulations (Decision No. 74/2022). Sampling of fish from gill nets was performed according to the official CEN standard protocol (CEN 2005. Water quality—Sampling of fish with multi-mesh nets. European Committee for Standardization, EN 14757, Brussels. ). Fish samples were collected in artificial water bodies located in the area of the active mining site in cooperation with PGE Mining and Conventional Power Generation SA Branch KWB Bełchatów. All relevant permits and authorizations were obtained for the collection of all samples.
