: The RTI institutional review board approved the NSDUH protocol and insured informed consent from all individual participants included in the study (Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality, ). Our secondary data analysis used de-identified publicly available data that was not considered human subjects research, and therefore, did not require additional ethical approval beyond what was obtained through the NSDUH informed consent process.This is an observational study using de-identified public data. The Columbia University Institutional Review Board determined Dr. Pia Mauro’s National Institute on Drug Abuse grant K01DA045224 protocol to be exempt.
