: The OPTIMAM mammography image database (OMI-DB) was established with approval from the NHS Health Research Authority, UK, for the collection, de-identification and use of mammography images and clinical data. This approval permits the collection of mammography images and associated data from NHS sites for research purposes.
: All images and associated data were pseudonymized at the source and no identifiable patient information was available to the researchers. In accordance with UK ethical regulations and the NHS Constitution, anonymized clinical data may be used for research without obtaining individual written consent. Therefore, informed consent was not required for this study.
: Access to OPTIMAM data was granted following a formal application process evaluated by the OPTIMAM Data Access Committee.
