: All study procedures and protocols were approved by the institutional animal ethics committee (IAEC) of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode, Kerala which follows the guidelines prescribed by the committee for the purpose of control and supervision of experiments on animals (CPCSEA) under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. The committee did not deem it necessary for this research group to obtain formal approval to conduct this study, since the collection of parasites from the dead animals was performed by veterinary pathologists for the disease diagnosis.
