: Dr. Mulier reports grants from Merck, during the conduct of the study to allow independent data nurses gather retrospective clinical data and add anaesthetic data to the clinical database; he reports also personal fees and non-financial support from Merck and Johnson & Johnson outside the submitted work. Dr. Dillemans reports personal fees and non-financial support from Johnson & Johnson, personal fees and non-financial support from Medtronic, outside the submitted work.
: All procedures performed in studies involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards. The study was approved by the ethical committee of the AZ Sint Jan Brugge-Oostende hospital.
