: Informed consent was obtained from each participant reported in this manuscript, and the patients were ensured that only their clinical course would be reported without disclosing any form of personal identifying information. The final clinical determination of therapy was derived after multiple transparent and detailed discussions with the patients incorporating topics discussed during multidisciplinary transplant cardiology selection committee meetings. In addition to discussing proposed benefits of the intervention, the authors carried out a detailed discussion relaying potential risks of the intervention including endoscopic adverse events, perioperative cardiopulmonary adverse events and expected side effects to prepare for during the therapy. Patient preference and input was also highly prioritized. The patients had separate consultations with all multidisciplinary team members involved including (but not limited to) gastroenterology, transplant cardiology, mental health, nutrition/dietitian and cardiac anesthesiology prior to the intervention.
