Declarations
:
: This study did not require official or institutional ethical approval as none of the deer were killed specifically for the purpose of this study. Instead, all deer were culled as part of the annual regulation in the respective estates and local game keepers consented to participate in the study and donated the sampled tissues. Certified hunters shot the deer during the official hunting season in Denmark, and all samples were collected post-mortem.
