: The present study was accepted by the ethical committee of Centro Hospitalar e Universitário São João (CHUSJ) in Oporto (128-22). The dataset for this study is available from the Portuguese National Registry of Gestational Diabetes on reasonable request, and we received ethical approval from the Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Group of the Portuguese Society of Diabetology.
