: The SETPOINT2 randomized trial protocol was approved by the ethics committee of the coordinating center University Hospital Heidelberg (Ethikkommission Medizinische Fakultät Heidelberg; reference number S-489/2014) and by the institutional review board or the ethics committee of each participating center. Written informed consent was provided by patients or, for patients unable to provide consent because of their stroke, by the patient’s legally authorized representative. For this post hoc analysis of the SETPOINT2 trial, data from the original trial were used, and no further formal consent is required. The analysis was performed according to the ethical standards of the Declaration of Helsinki in its current version.
