: This research had written informed consent from the patients and was approved by the Brazilian Ministry of Health Ethics Committee, under Institutional Review Board (IRB-Research Ethics Committee of Hospital Universitário Clementino Fraga Filho) consent CEP-HUCFF No. 002/01. All patients gave written consent to the use of their surgical specimens for isolation of cortical cells (including astrocytes) in the study, and the procedures were approved by the Brazilian Ministry of Health Ethics Committee under IRB consent (CEP-HUCFF No. 060/05).
