: Ethical approval was obtained from the Makerere University Social Science Research Ethics Committee—MAKSSREC (reference number 06.17.060), a local accredited Institutional Review Board and the Uganda National Council of Science and Technology with registration number SS 4412.
: Informed consent was sought from all respondents (the mothers and caregivers). All interviews with the child caregivers were conducted upon verbal consent of the employers and informed consent of the respondent. The survey also included measuring the height and weight of children upon verbal consent of the mothers. Participation was voluntary. Potential participants were informed of their right to withdraw from the study and to choose not to answer questions that they do not wish to. Potential participants were assured of confidentiality.
