: Permission to conduct interviews in the marketplaces of Bogotá was obtained from the Institute for Social Economy (IPES). We conducted a prior consultation with the vendors and collectors of Cundinamarca and Bogotá in which we explained the objectives and methodology of the research, and requested permission to interview them at their workplaces and visit their collection sites. The people interviewed for this study own and have the rights to their popular knowledge about medicinal plants and, specifically, wild yams. Any commercial use of this information must be subject to international and national legislation on medicinal plants and traditional knowledge associated with biodiversity, and requires prior consent from the informants involved and an agreement on the distribution of benefits.
