: We have sent our study project to the responsible ethics committee. According to e-mail correspondence, our study does not require a written ethics committee approval according to the “Ärztekammer des Saarlandes” (responsible ethics committee). We have added our e-mail correspondence with the ethics committee as a separate PDF file. No ethics approval applicable, since novice ultrasound users applied real-time ultrasound-guided vascular access on a gelatin phantom model. Neither institutional review board approval nor informed consent was necessary for this in vitro study as no patients were included.
