: All procedures involving laboratory animals were conducted in accordance with the ethical standards established by the Mexican Official Norm NOM-062-ZOO-1999 for the care and use of laboratory animals (experimental classification: category d), as well as the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (NOM/GCUAL). All experimental protocols adhered to the policies on animal use outlined by the Society for Neuroscience, including the U.S. Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (PHS Policy) and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. The experimental procedures were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of the Institute of Neuroscience of the Universidad Veracruzana (Approval No.: 2018-003). A limitation of the present study is the relatively small sample size per group (n = 6), which may have limited statistical power to detect subtle effects. Accordingly, the absence of statistically significant differences in some parameters should not be interpreted as definitive evidence of lack of effect.
