: The discovery cohort consisted of post-mortem human SNpc tissues from 27 donors collected from the Oregon Brain Bank at Oregon Health and Science University, a human tissue repository for brain research studies. Written informed consent was obtained for all samples at OHSU in accordance with local regulations. As the samples were subsequently transferred and processed at KU Leuven, their use was approved by the Ethics Committee Research UZ Leuven/KU Leuven in compliance with Belgian legislation and registered in the UZ Leuven Biobank under reference number S64182. Further details are available at . The replication dataset consisted of snRNA-seq data obtained from post-mortem human SNpc tissues dissected from seven samples provided by the Sepulveda brain bank. Written informed consent was obtained for all samples in accordance with local regulations.
