: The BHP’s HDSS was initiated at the request of the Guinean Ministry of Health. Consent for surveillance is obtained at the first registration of a woman in the HDSS. The EN-INDEPTH study approved by Comité Nacional de Ética na Saúde, Guinea-Bissau (072/CNES/INASA/2017) and the Institutional Ethical Review Committee of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (12218). Written consent/assent was sought for all respondents after being informed of the objective, data use, procedure of the interview, risks and benefits of participating in the study. The right to withdraw from interview anytime point of time and not responding to questions where they feet discomfort was explained.
