: This study was performed in line with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Approval was first granted by the University of Goettingen’s ethics commission. Then research approval was received from Kenya’s National Commission of Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI/P/19/71369/28351). In Uganda, the Makerere University School of Health Sciences’ Institutional Review Board provided ethical approval (2019–026), while the National Council for Science and Technology provided research clearance (A54ES). Tanzania's ethical and research clearances were obtained from the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR/HQ/R.8a/Vol.IX/3041) and the Commission for Science and Technology (2019–61-NA-2019–40), respectively.
