: The study was performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. An ethical approval with Reference Number FAFEC/08/34/5 was obtained from Faith Alive Foundation Hospital, Jos, Nigeria where the <i>Plasmodium falciparum</i> positive blood sample used for the in vitro study was obtained. The in vivo study was carried out in accordance with the National Institute of Health guide for care and use of Laboratory animals. An ethical approval with Reference Number UJ/FPS/F1700379 was obtained from the ethical committee of the University of Jos to carry out the study.
