: In the study, all experimental procedures were approved by the Ethics Committee of The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University and conformed to the requirements of the Declaration of Helsinki and the International Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research Involving Human Subjects. Clinical samples were obtained with informed consent from 90 HCC patients who underwent surgery between 2016 and 2018 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University (AHMU). All animal experiments and experimental procedures were approved by the Ethics Committee of The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University and also complied with the guidelines of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals prepared by the National Academy of Sciences and published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH Publication 86 − 23, revised 1985), which permits the inclusion of mouses with tumor sizes up to 2.0 cm in maximal diameter. The maximal tumor burden was maintained below 5% of the animal’s total body weight in all experimental subjects, with therapeutic studies permitting an upper threshold of 10% as per institutional guidelines.
