Consent for publication: Written informed consent for publication of the clinical details and images in this open-access case report was obtained posthumously from the patient's legal representatives (next-of-kin), as the patient's rapid clinical deterioration and subsequent death precluded obtaining consent from the patient herself prior to surgery. The legal representatives were fully informed of the content to be published and provided written consent.
