: In this study the identity of motherhood was not limited to biological mothers nor to the participants’ sex or gender assigned at birth. Ethnic and racial identity was not limited in the survey response choices and participants were able to select all ethnic origins and races that apply to their identity. This is a concerted effort to dissolve racial boundaries and represent participants as they identify themselves, not through hypo/hyperdescent bias.
