: To answer the research questions, several fictitious product dummies were created based on real existing products. The presentation of sustainability related claims was also based on practice and was fictitious. The study was approved by the ethics commission at the university before data collection. Participants were informed about data use and provided their written informed consent online. They were informed that they could end their participation and withdraw their consent at any time without any consequences and leave the online experiment by closing their internet browser. They were financially compensated for their participation, which was paid by the panel provider.
