: This research involves human subjects, whereby an ethics self-assessment was conducted following the guidelines established by Horizon 2020 research programmes. The ethics self-assessment was validated by the funding institution.Moreover, before starting fieldwork, the research proposal, together with the interview guidelines, and the informed consent brochure were shared with a local NGO working on the integration of LGBTIQ + refugees in Mexico.

: Oral informed consent was obtained from all individual participants included in the study.

: All personal data from individuals participating in this study has been anonymized in this and other publications. All informants were informed that their stories would be published in academic articles using pseudonyms and anonymizing any personal detail that could unveil their identity. They all gave their consent orally.
