: To identify whether ethics approval for the study was required the Health Research Authority Decision Agency approach to defining research was applied. This found that this study met the criteria of Service Evaluation/Improvement/Development and therefore did not require ethical approval as outlined on their guidance page. The study investigated an existing service, where the choice of care was that of the care professional and patient/service user according to guidance, professional standards and/or patient/ service user preference, aimed to identify if improvements can be achieved within the service and involved analysis of existing data and the use of a questionnaire. No direct identifiable information was gathered on the participating educators or the users receiving education. The study team only had visibility of anonymous identifiers for participating educators, provided by a third-party organization who was used to recruit them but did not have access to the information recorded.
