: All procedures performed in studies involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards. Ethical approval was issued by Nottingham Research Ethics Committee 2, under the title of ‘development of a molecular genetic classification of breast cancer’ (C202313). All samples collected from Nottingham used in this study were pseudo-anonymised; those collected prior to 2006 did not require informed patient consent under the Human Tissue Act, after 2006 informed consent was obtained from all individual participants included in the study.
