: This article aims to provide other alternatives for palm oil mill effluent (POME) wastewater treatment by utilising biomass/wastes from palm oil mill industry. The paper presents new data on the adsorption mechanism of pollutants and colour onto biomass-based activated carbon by performing adsorption equilibrium and kinetic. This approach does not only beneficial for oil palm biomass management, but it also introduces a sustainable and inexpensive material that can replace the commercial activated carbon for the treatment of wastewater.
