The trial was approved by the Scientific Ethical Committee of the Region of Southern Denmark (S-20170095) and the Danish Data Protection Agency (17/33672). An independent data safety monitoring board reviewed trial data and safety during the enrolment period, incorporating preliminary assessment of key outcomes and potential adverse events. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants’ parents or guardians before enrollment in the study.
