: The study was conducted as continuous surveillance in accordance with the World Health Medical Association 1966 Declaration of Helsinki and the EU rules of Good Clinical Practice. The National Reference Centre for Bacterial Meningitis (NRCBM) was established by the Ministry of Health in 1997 to monitor invasive infections in Poland, including invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae . Currently, the NRCBM operates under the Act of December 5, 2008, on the Prevention and Control of Infections and Infectious Diseases in Humans (Journal of Laws of 2008, No. 234, item 1570), and therefore, approval from the institutional review board is not required.
