Ethics approval: In Norway, we complied with the legal requirements under Article 30 of the Personal Data Act, protocols for processing activities, and the University of Bergen guidelines for processing personal data. Accordingly, the project is registered with the University of Bergen System for Risk and Compliance (RETTE). It also complied with the Norwegian Research Ethics Act and adhered to the guidelines for Research Ethics in the Social Sciences and the Humanities (NESH). In Uganda, this study was approved by Makerere University’s Social Sciences Research and Ethics Committee (MAKSS REC) ( MAKSSREC 07.2023.694) in accordance with the guidelines and regulations set by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST), which also gave additional approval (SS2301ES) .
