: This review is the first to summarise existing literature on the deliberate restriction and/or omission of insulin as a disordered eating behaviour in males with type 1 diabetes mellitus. The results highlight several concerns in the research thus far, demonstrate the need for further research on the behaviours' aetiology and impact within males and highlights the need for health professionals to be aware of its presence in males and females.
