: The first author has an ongoing research partnership with Rising Academies and works as a consultant on a project related to developing a conversational agent to support students’ math skills. This study is an extension of his doctoral dissertation and predates the consulting relationship. The second author participated in the marking and analysis of transcripts while still a student at University of Oxford, however in over the course of the past year, she has joined Rising Academies as Research and Assessment Manager.
