This study was based on the doctoral dissertation of the first author (an educational psychologist) following her many years of experience in psychotherapy with socially rejected children. She and the second author (an educational counselor) are involved in college teaching and research about latency-age children. The second author performed a secondary analysis of the dissertation data to strengthen validity and reliability.
