: Ethics approval for the study was obtained from the Institutional Review Board at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (reference number STU-2021–0308; approved June 22, 2021). Participants provided consent electronically at the start of the online survey, before any study questions were shown, by proceeding past an information page that clearly described the study purpose, voluntary nature of participation, and data handling. The information page explained that the survey would ask about the impact of myositis on multiple aspects of life, that participation was voluntary, that responses would remain confidential, that there was no compensation, and that participants could skip questions or exit at any time, and proceeding to the survey questions served as acknowledgment that their responses could be used for research purposes. The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and its amendments.
