: As co-authors and colleagues, we share a commitment to Pacific learner success in Aotearoa New Zealand’s (NZ’s) education system. We begin with our positionality to acknowledge the worldviews that inform our collective work. Dr Maria Cooper is a NZ-born and raised Samoan-European with ancestral ties through her mother to the village of Lufilufi, Upolu, Samoa and through her father to the village of Dovalovo, Slovakia. Dr Jacinta Oldehaver is a second-generation NZ born and raised Samoan-Tongan-German. She can trace her ancestry to Upolu, Samoa through her mother’s village of Fasito’o Uta. Her father is Tongan-German and born and raised in Samoa. Dr Helen Hedges is NZ-born with English, Scottish and Irish heritages. She has a commitment to understanding equity in action.
