: All measurements and investigations presented in this paper were conducted as part of the research project Hylley. It investigates hydrogen engines as a climate neutral and sustainable propulsion for On- and Off-Road machinery. Hylley is an international consortial research project involving partners from industry and science. The scientific partners are: Graz Universitiy of Technology, Institute of Thermodynamics and Sustainable Propulsion Systems (ITnA), Consortium Leader; Montanuniversität Leoben, Department of Materials Science (MUL); HyCentA Research GmbH (HyCentA). The industry partners are: AVL List GmbH; Liebherr (with locations in Telfs, Deggendorf and Bulle); Hörbiger Wien GmbH; Umicore AG; Ventrex Automotive GmbH. Hylley is a COMET project. The COMET programme is financed by the federal government of Austria, the federal states Styria and Tyrol, the participating companies and research organisations. The responsible owners are the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure ( BMIMI) as well as the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism (BMWET). COMET is managed by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) (Fig. ).
